What Do You Want?
After some review, here is a synopsis of what I think of The LEGO Community so far:
As far as forums go, this one is pretty sad. Yes, the administrators certainly rushed to create one to complete their 'rebellion' (don't even get me started) from MLNTeam - I understand - adrenalin and the Internet tends to produce some half-baked websites. Enough time has passed, however, for some semblance of an active, inviting, and most importantly, original forum to rise, but as everybody can see, the aforementioned has not happened yet, and may very well never will.
Yes, there are GIMP/Photoshop topics, MLN markets, and general games and off-topic discussion. That simply isn't enough for a forum to stand on. What I see here is a forum that doesn't know what it wants to be, but has cleverly chosen a domain name that lures members of the general LEGO community (aka familiar users but on other forums you don't like) to it like gnats, but only to leave them trapped in a shambles of a forum and a poor excuse for a community.
Change is going to take time, but it will only happen if everyone is ready and willing to help. What should be done immediately is change the theme of the forum. We all know it isn't about LEGOs. I think your money is on PHOTOSHOP CREATIONS. So many of us have the software itself -- what is keeping people from dedicating a community about it? Think of the possibilities.
But, of course, it all comes down to what we all want, not just what I say about it. So for God's sake, post here about what you want to do!

Re: What Do You Want?
Yeah. Most of us were planning to close this forum It'd take time to advertise etc...
We were planning to move back to MLNTeam and help them out there.
If we changed this to a gimp/photoshop/artwork forum... It might get attention... (I don't have photoshop due to the cost)
It might be good but on the other hand it would take a lot of work.
I would move back to MLNTeam and try to help out there or Change this to a artwork forum.

....It would take a long time to get members here wouldn't it? I'll talk with the other staff to see what happens next.

No, that is Yao Ming laughing.
Well, of course it would, but you know where to find them. That's one problem you don't have to tackle, at least.

Yeah... I'll check with the other staff.
I have to say a good idea is changing this into a artwork forum. And maybe have a lego sub forum.

Or, instead of a LEGO sub forum, have a MUSIC sub forum! All of us (I think) listen to music and many of us actually play an instrument.
See the possibilities? They are beautiful.

I SAY WE HAVE A TOPIC FOR GUITAR.
I'm actually a woman. But I forgive you for confusing me with Commander Shepard (the guy in my avatar).
Yes, guitar will be just fine.

Yes! Somebody recognized the face! And here I was losing hope
Mhm. Movies and cartoons count as art. See, Seemefly? This won't be too hard to do.

This is really the beauty of an artwork forum. You can have so many subforums and topics - just about everything we use has had an artist involved in its conception. You can have a music sub (with further threads based on genre), painting/drawing sub, architecture/mechanic/sculpture(including LEGO MOCs) sub, and so on.

Sure! Roddy do you want to do that?

Re: What Do You Want?
We need to decide fast because I have LEGO annoying me saying we need to change the URL.... They aren't hurrying us but I think it's best to do it quickly (I seem to be always left side politics )

Re: What Do You Want?
The actual company is dogging you to change the URL? Maybe if LEGO paid as much attention to LEGO Universe as they do to innocent fan-made forums, we would still have it.
Well, I guess it's time for a brainstorm for names:
If you want to retain some form of LEGO to the name, consider calling it STUDLY. The "stud" part would be from the LEGO bricks... the "-ly" part, uh... it's catchy? lol

@Fuzz I don't think its catchy... Sorry.
We don't have to be LEGO. We can change it to Artwork Laboratories?

Re: What Do You Want?
Ah, no problem. I don't mind Artwork Labs, either. I just don't know what everyone else wants... or if they care. :/

Re: What Do You Want?
Give me something to work with, i really always need a basis, originally it was a basis for M.L.N.T, now though we have members not really finding here attractive and the legal team in Denmark saying we have to change URL, new basis. I'm on a forum that just got over 200,000 posts in 10 months, that's amazing, it's even growing quick then MLNT ever was. If only we ran a site with a basis to be that, currently I don't see this foundation being the basis for something big.

Re: What Do You Want?
Are you talking about LZP, when you say 200k posts, per chance? Nice.
You are the administrator, Roddy. I offered up all the suggestions I can think of. Do what you think needs to be done - I have no problem with that.

Re: What Do You Want?
No not LZP, apex racing league, on average they are getting around 20,000 posts a month right now!
I also prefer democracy to a one person decision. I think though we just need to change the URL, that's all that is concerning me right now, once I can say to Lego "all sorted" then we can focus on the future of the forum.

Re: What Do You Want?
Forums are not governments, Roddy. They are businesses. You are the CEO and we are the customers. Your posts are your money. The more customers you have, the more money you get. You have to understand that all forum decisions, whether or not they are 'approved' by the members, are on you.
Nobody elected you to the position of administrator and you do not tax any of us. We are under no obligation AT ALL for being here - unlike citizens of actual countries who pay taxes.
You must know the difference to understand.

I think we need to keep at least a little lego stuff here. That is why we all came in the first place.
